On-Premise & Private Cloud: options, limits, operations

Maximum control — with clear rules of the game.

GIRI runs in three operating models — public cloud, private cloud, and on-premise. This page is for everyone whose IT team is evaluating the latter two.

🏢 Private cloud
Your own GIRI instance at one of 32 locations worldwide — a dedicated environment, operated by us, with the full feature set. For most requirements, the best middle ground between control and convenience.
🖥️ On-premise
The GIRI backend runs on your own infrastructure (your servers or your cloud, Linux-based). Maximum data sovereignty — with the rules described below.
⚠️ On-premise: the clear rules
Operation is nearly self-contained: an outbound license signal remains required, and internet access is only needed between the server and the devices running the GIRI app. Not available in self-contained operation are the cloud-based functions: AI features, automatic translation, and SSO.
🔌 External services in cloud operation
In cloud operation, GIRI uses three external services: DeepL (translation), Auth0 (SSO), and Blue Ocean (AI) — all ISO 27001 certified. Customer data is never used for AI training; AI can be disabled.

Updates: automatic in the cloud (about 1x/month larger feature updates, 1–2x/week smaller ones). On-premise, updates happen in coordination with your team. Backups: automatic every 24 hours in cloud operation, retained for 30 days; on-premise, the backup strategy is in your hands. A staging environment with multi-level testing and a CI/CD pipeline safeguards every release.

Costs: on-premise typically sits above the cloud packages — the administration and customization effort is significantly higher. Talk to us for an honest recommendation: in many cases, the private cloud delivers the same control at a fraction of the effort.
