Lesson 1 · Choosing the Process

Day 1 · 30 min · your foundation

🎓 PHASE 1 · DAY 1
Tonight ONE task is written on your sheet — the right one. Choose wrong, and everything else can go perfectly while Friday still delivers no proof.
5
candidates
4
criteria
1
winner
☑️ Your 30 minutes today
Walk the shop floor, note 5 candidates
Ask the machine operators: "What annoys you daily?"
Score each candidate against the 4 criteria
see below — 0–4 points
Lock in the winner and write it down
One task. Not two.
🧭
The 4 criteria
1
Visible
Happens often, done by many. Five times per shift beats once a month.
2
Painful
Goes wrong, gets explained constantly, costs time. Where nobody complains, no savings impress.
3
Measurable
"Before X, now Y." Without a number, your proof is just an opinion.
4
Short
5–10 min of real work. The proof shows the format — not heroics.
⚠️
The 3 killers
  • The showcase task — painful beats prestigious.
  • Too big — "complete tool change" kills your day-1 schedule.
  • Nobody cares — if the operators shrug, so will the stakeholders.
ℹ️
Drill question
Why does a painful 5-minute task beat an impressive 60-minute task?
