With GIRI’s intuitive platform, creating clear and effective work instructions becomes a seamless process. Follow these two main phases to ensure success: Preparation and Execution.

Preparation: Setting the Stage

To start, it’s essential to prepare the groundwork thoroughly. Here's how:

  • Pick a simple task:

    • Start with an easy-to-understand process, like making a cup of coffee.

    • Simple tasks are ideal for building confidence, learning the documentation process, and showing quick, tangible results. Starting small also helps establish a repeatable workflow for more complex instructions later.

  • Assign clear roles for collaboration:

    • Executor: Performs the task step-by-step while "thinking out loud" to explain each action and decision.

    • Recorder: Captures all steps using tools like GIRI’s app, including photos, videos, and detailed notes. This ensures that no important details are missed.

    • This teamwork ensures clarity and accuracy in the documentation.

  • Allocate enough time:

    • A 15-minute task may take 20–25 minutes to document thoroughly.

    • Plan for pauses between steps to capture visuals and clarify any ambiguous details.

Using basic tools like pen and paper or GIRI’s app for initial documentation is highly recommended. Before diving into advanced features such as the AR World Map, it’s important to master the basics. This foundational approach ensures your team is ready for more complex projects later.

Execution: Turning Preparation into Results

With preparation complete, focus on executing the instructions in a clear and organized manner. Here’s how:

  • Zoom in on details gradually:

    • Begin with an overview of the task, including the workspace, tools, and materials.

    • Then focus on specific details step by step, ensuring the user isn’t overwhelmed with too much information upfront. This gradual approach helps maintain clarity.

  • Organize the content into chapters:

    • Divide the task into logical sections to make the instructions easier to navigate. Examples of chapters could include:

      • Start-Up Procedures

      • Regular Maintenance

      • Safety Tips

    • Structuring instructions this way makes it easier for users to find the information they need quickly.

Ideal for beginners, this mode allows you to document step-by-step instructions with photos, videos, and annotations. It’s perfect for learning the documentation process and creating simple workflows.

  2. Interactive Mode
As you gain confidence, this mode lets you add clickable elements and detailed visuals to instructions, making them more dynamic and engaging.

  3. AR World Map
Designed for advanced users, this mode overlays instructions directly onto the user’s environment using augmented reality. It’s great for tasks that involve physical locations or equipment but requires experience in creating precise workflows.

  4. 3D Instructions
This mode enables users to interact with 3D models, allowing for zooming and rotation to view components from all angles. It’s best suited for complex tasks but should only be used after mastering simpler modes to ensure accuracy and clarity.
