Getting Started with the GIRI Web-Based Editor

The GIRI web-based editor is a powerful new tool designed to streamline the creation and refinement of work instructions and SOPs with augmented reality. Whether you’re adding detailed text, organizing steps, or uploading media, this editor enhances your workflow—especially when paired with the GIRI mobile app. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

What is the Web-Based Editor?

The GIRI web-based editor allows you to edit work instructions and SOPs that you’ve started on the GIRI mobile app. While AR object placement remains exclusive to the mobile app, the web editor excels at post-processing tasks, letting you refine your instructions with ease from any browser.

Key Features:

  • Edit text for work instructions quickly and efficiently.

  • Change patterns and reorder steps to suit your needs.

  • Add industry-specific icons to enhance clarity.

  • Upload media files, including videos and images.

Remember, that adding AR-Objects remains exclusive to the mobile application.

When you choose to edit an instruction, it’s “checked out” for editing, ensuring smooth collaboration across your team.

Why Use the Web-Based Editor?

The web-based editor complements the mobile app by offering a faster, more efficient way to add text, symbols, and other details. The recommended workflow is simple:

  1. Capture media (images, videos, or AR elements) using the GIRI mobile app.

  2. Switch to the web-based editor for post-processing—adding text, icons, and organizing steps.

This hybrid approach saves time and leverages the strengths of both platforms.

Who Can Use It?

The web-based editor is available to all GIRI users with editing rights, including:

  • Managers and Organizational Admins (enabled by default).

  • Custom roles with instruction-editing permissions.

Best of all, it’s free for all GIRI plans!

How to Access the Editor

To start using the web-based editor:

  1. Log in to your user management panel (typically located at https://ar-giri.cloud). Navigate to projects and select the "Edit"-Button in the respective column.

    • Not sure of your server address? Open the GIRI mobile app, tap the gear icon, and find it there.

  2. Select an instruction to edit. It will open in a new browser window, ready for you to refine.

Setup and Availability

For most users, the web-based editor will roll out automatically to all servers managed by AR-Experts, our parent company. No action is required—just log in and start editing!

If your organization uses a private hosting option (self-hosted servers), please contact our support team to coordinate the update. Contact support.

Example Use Cases

Here’s how you might use the web-based editor:

  • Polishing a Work Instruction: After recording a video of a machine setup process on your phone, use the editor to add step-by-step text, reorder the sequence, and include a safety icon.

  • Creating an SOP: Upload images captured on-site via the mobile app, then log into the editor to add detailed descriptions and industry icons for a professional finish.
